Metal Fabrication in North Vancouver

Our shop is at 5128 Francisco Court, so North Vancouver is home ground. That matters more than it sounds: we can get to a site in twenty minutes, take a measurement, go back to the shop and have steel on the table the same afternoon. For anything urgent — a torn gate hinge, a railing a home inspector has flagged before a sale — being local is the whole difference.
Building on a slope
Most North Van lots fall. That means stair guards to varying heights, railings that step rather than run level, and driveway gates on a grade where a swing leaf will foul the concrete before it is halfway open. We measure the fall on site rather than assuming it, and we will tell you when a slide gate is the only thing that will actually work.
Weather and finish
Rain, salt air and cedar debris are hard on metal here. We hot-dip galvanize before powder coat on anything permanently exposed, use stainless fasteners at the coast, and detail so water drains out of a frame instead of sitting inside it. It costs a little more up front and it is the reason our work outlasts the cheap version.
City and District permits
North Vancouver is two jurisdictions with different requirements, and guard heights and pool-gate rules get checked. We build to the requirements confirmed for the project, and we will tell you before we start if what you are asking for will not pass.

What We Get Called For on the North Shore
Our shop is here, which changes what’s practical rather than just what’s marketed — site measurement, dropping off a finish sample, and getting back to a job the morning something doesn’t fit are all short trips rather than a day. The North Shore’s older strata stock is the source of most of our repair and replacement work: guardrail replacement on buildings from the seventies and eighties, parkade pipe and column guards for parkades that have been taking the same impacts for thirty years, and waste enclosures built before buildings separated three streams. Wildlife is a real consideration here in a way it isn’t across the water, and it changes how an enclosure’s latching, gaps and gate alignment need to be detailed — as does where bollards go to keep collection trucks off the structure.
The same building stock drives two more requests here: storage cages in locker rooms that were sized for a different era, and roof access ladders flagged by depreciation reports on buildings from the seventies and eighties.
Interior metalwork
Not all of our North Vancouver work is outdoors. We build interior pieces for renovations and new builds across the North Shore — blackened and hot-rolled steel fireplace surrounds, custom metal furniture and table bases, interior stair railings and shelving frames. These are usually design-led jobs where the finish matters as much as the fabrication, and we agree it on a sample before building.
