Before you book
Send a photo and a rough measurement and we will tell you honestly whether it is a mobile job or a shop job. Some repairs are cheaper and better done in the shop even counting the removal and refit — we will say so rather than quoting the more expensive option.
Mobile Welding Across Metro Vancouver
Mobile welding means the shop comes to the work rather than the work coming to the shop. We run mobile welding across Metro Vancouver from North Vancouver, and most mobile welding calls we take are repairs to metalwork that is already installed and cannot practically be removed.
If you are looking for mobile welding because something has broken, send photos before booking. Mobile welding jobs go wrong far more often through a missing bracket or a missing hot-work permit than through the welding itself.
When On-Site Is the Right Answer
Mobile welding is the right call when the item cannot come to a shop: something bolted into a building, something structural, something too large to move, or something where removing and reinstating it would cost more than repairing it in place.
It is the wrong call when the part can travel. Shop work gives better access, better position, better fit-up and a proper finish afterwards, and it is usually cheaper. If you can take the part off and bring it in, that is what we will suggest — and we would rather say so than charge for a site visit that produces a worse repair.
What We Handle On Site
Railings and guards — loose posts, cracked welds, damaged sections, base plates that have worked free.
Gates — sagging leaves, broken hinges, cracked frames, latch and drop-rod problems, posts that have moved. Adjusting and re-hanging is often the whole job. Related detail is on gate hardware.
Fences — damaged bays, posts hit by a vehicle, rails that have rusted through at the ends.
Stairs and handrails — corroded stringer ends, loose treads, connections that have failed, missing returns and grab rails.
Parkade and building protection — bollards sheared at the base, guards and posts hit by vehicles, brackets and supports that have corroded loose. Wider scope is on parkade protection and bollards.
Waste enclosures and cages — gate frames, hinges, panels and posts that have been hit or forced.
Structural and equipment repairs — brackets, supports, frames, mounts and guards on plant and equipment that cannot be shut down and moved.
Where a repair is structural or safety-related — a guardrail, a load-bearing frame or similar — we confirm what the job requires before taking it on, and recommend an engineering review where appropriate rather than assuming. What applies depends on the scope, the building and the authority having jurisdiction.

Small modifications — adding a bracket, a mount, a support or a fixing point to something already installed.
What We Are Not
We are a fabrication shop that comes to site. We are not a twenty-four-hour emergency service and we do not advertise a response time we cannot hold to. Our shop hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 5:00, and we schedule site work within that.
If something is genuinely an emergency — a security failure, a safety hazard, or something that has to be made safe tonight — call and tell us plainly. We will say honestly whether we can get to it and when, rather than taking the booking and letting you find out.
Working in an Occupied Building
Most of our site work happens in buildings that stay in use, which changes the job more than the welding does.
- Hot work in an occupied building normally means agreeing the procedure with building management in advance, and often means a fire watch and a permit issued by the building.
- Sprinkler and detection systems in the work area may need to be considered, and that is coordinated with the building rather than decided by us.
- Fumes, sparks and noise have to be controlled and contained, particularly in a parkade, a lobby or near a residential corridor.
- Protection of finishes below and around the work — paving, membranes, vehicles, landscaping and glazing.
- Access, parking and how equipment reaches the work area. In a parkade this frequently decides the schedule.
- Resident and tenant notice, which management usually posts and we can help word.
Tell us what your building requires at the booking rather than on the day. It is the single thing that most often turns a two-hour job into a wasted visit.
Batching Small Jobs
For property managers and facility managers running several buildings, the cheapest way to clear a list of small repairs is to batch them into one visit rather than calling them in one at a time. Send the list with photos and we will sequence it. This is how most of our strata and property management repair work gets done.
What to Send Before We Come Out
- Photos of the item, and a close photo of the actual failure.
- A wider photo showing where it is and how we would reach it.
- What it is made of, if you know — aluminum, stainless and galvanized all change the job.
- Whether power is available nearby.
- What the building requires for hot work, and who issues it.
- Whether anything has to be made safe before we can get there.
Photographs prevent almost every wasted trip. A repair that looks like a five-minute weld in a description is frequently a bracket that has to be fabricated, and knowing that in advance means we arrive with it.
When a Repair Is Not the Answer
Sometimes the honest answer is that the item has failed for a reason that a weld will not fix — a post that was never footed properly, a frame that was undersized from the start, or corrosion that has taken more than the weld zone. We will tell you that on site rather than performing a repair that comes back.
