Sapphire 33 Forest Fire Sphere

Sapphire 33 is a sphere in weathering steel, its surface cut with a layered forest of firs and tall trees. With the fire lit inside, the cut scene glows and casts the forest as shadow across the terrace, turning the sphere into a lantern.

Materials and fabrication

The Sapphire 33 Forest Fire Sphere is fabricated from Corten weathering steel, which is left to develop its protective russet patina over time. Each piece is cut and welded to order in our North Vancouver shop, and the natural variation of the patina means no two are exactly alike.
